Manufacturing process
A genuine chasen is painstakingly handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo.
1. Bamboo Selection
Robust, fine-fibered bamboo is selected for our chasen. The material must be flexible yet stable to ensure the characteristic elasticity of the bristles.
2. Precise Carving
The bamboo is hand-cut and fanned into fine bristles. Each individual spoke is carefully shaped to provide optimal springiness when whisking.
3. Shaping & Bending
The bristles are carefully bent outwards. This special curvature later creates the typical M or W motion when whisking, allowing for a fine, creamy foam.
4. Finishing Touches
Finally, the bristles are smoothed and balanced. Only a precisely crafted chasen creates the perfect blend of matcha and water.
A Tool for the Ritual
Crafted from natural bamboo, our Chasen is designed to gently whisk matcha and give it its characteristic, velvety texture.
Each stroke blends water and powder into a harmonious whole – fine, creamy, and balanced.
Thus, preparation becomes a conscious moment of tranquility.
